Key Largo Reef Diving Weekend
July 16–18, 2027
Join American Pro Diving Center for a summer weekend in the Florida Keys filled with warm water, colorful coral reefs, tropical marine life, and some of the most enjoyable recreational diving in Florida!
Our Key Largo Reef Diving Weekend is designed to be a relaxed, fun trip focused on exploring Key Largo's beautiful reef system. We'll be staying at Marina Del Mar Resort & Marina and diving with Key Largo Dive Center, giving our group a convenient home base for an easy Friday-through-Sunday getaway.
Unlike our Advanced Open Water and wreck-focused Key Largo trip later in the year, this weekend is all about the reefs. It's a great trip for newer Open Water divers, experienced divers who enjoy easygoing reef dives, couples, friends, and anyone looking for a fun weekend in the Keys.
THE WEEKEND
Friday, July 16 — Arrival in Key Largo
Travel to Key Largo, check into Marina Del Mar Resort & Marina, get settled, and meet up with the American Pro group.
Friday evening is yours to relax, explore Key Largo, grab dinner, and get your equipment ready for the weekend's diving.
Saturday, July 17 — Key Largo Reef Diving
We'll head out with Key Largo Dive Center for a two-tank reef charter.
Key Largo's reef system gives us access to clear tropical water, coral formations, schooling fish, sea turtles, rays, moray eels, barracuda, and plenty of other Florida Keys marine life.
After diving, enjoy the afternoon and evening in Key Largo with the group.
Sunday, July 18 — More Reef Diving & Departure
We'll return to the water with Key Largo Dive Center for another two-tank reef charter, giving us four scheduled dives for the weekend.
After Sunday's diving, we'll wrap up our weekend and begin the trip home.
Charter times and the exact itinerary will be confirmed closer to departure.
THE DIVING
This trip is focused specifically on recreational reef diving.
Key Largo sits alongside the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and offers access to a variety of shallow and intermediate-depth reef sites. Rather than building the weekend around deeper wrecks, we'll concentrate on enjoying the coral reefs and marine life that make the Upper Keys such a popular diving destination.
Our planned diving includes:
- Two-tank reef charter on Saturday
- Two-tank reef charter on Sunday
- Four scheduled boat dives
- Diving with Key Largo Dive Center
- Tanks and weights for scheduled dives
- Professional local captain and dive crew
- American Pro Diving Center group coordination
Exact dive sites will be selected by the charter operator based on weather, sea conditions, visibility, diver experience, and other operational considerations.
WHO IS THIS TRIP FOR?
One of the best things about our July Key Largo trip is its accessibility.
This trip is a great choice for:
- Newly certified Open Water Divers
- Divers looking to gain more ocean and boat-diving experience
- Couples and families with certified divers
- Divers returning to the sport
- Experienced divers who simply love reef diving
- American Pro Divers Club members looking for a fun summer getaway
You don't need to be an advanced diver to enjoy a great dive trip.
If you've recently earned your Open Water certification and have been looking for your first real dive vacation, this is an excellent opportunity to start building experience alongside the American Pro team.

CERTIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Participants must be certified Open Water Divers or higher.
This trip is intentionally being planned around recreational reef diving, making it one of the more accessible trips on our 2027 travel calendar.
Divers should still be comfortable with:
- Boat diving
- Entries and exits from a dive boat
- Descents and ascents in open water
- Maintaining proper buoyancy
- Staying with a buddy
- Following the dive briefing and dive plan
If you're newly certified, don't feel like you need dozens of dives before joining us. This trip is specifically a good opportunity to gain experience while traveling with other American Pro divers.
Divers who haven't been in the water recently are encouraged to complete a refresher or PADI ReActivate before the trip.
EQUIPMENT
Divers are encouraged to bring their own properly maintained scuba equipment.
Recommended equipment includes:
- BCD
- Regulator
- Dive computer
- Mask
- Fins
- Appropriate exposure protection
- Surface marker buoy (SMB)
- Audible signaling device
- Certification card
Rental equipment may be available for an additional charge and should be arranged in advance.
Any additional equipment requirements from Key Largo Dive Center will be communicated before departure.
WANT TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP?
Our July trip is the reef-diving weekend. But if you're ready to take your diving farther, we're returning to Key Largo later in the year.
Our November 12–14 Key Largo Wreck & Advanced Open Water Weekend will be geared toward deeper diving, wrecks, and divers working toward their PADI Advanced Open Water certification.
That creates a great progression for newer divers:
Get certified → Dive the reefs with us in July → Build your experience → Come back for Advanced & Wreck diving in November.
Ask the American Pro team if you'd like help planning your path.
RESERVATIONS & PAYMENT
Space will be limited by our hotel room block and available charter capacity.
A deposit will be required to secure your reservation.
The deposit amount, payment schedule, final-payment deadline, cancellation policy, and participant-substitution terms will be provided once our final group arrangements are confirmed.
A reservation is not considered secured until the required deposit has been received.
WEATHER & DIVE CONDITIONS
All scuba diving is weather and conditions dependent.
The captain and Key Largo Dive Center have final authority regarding whether the boat operates and which dive sites are appropriate for the day's conditions.
Specific reef sites and marine-life encounters cannot be guaranteed.
Dive sites, schedules, number of dives, and other portions of the itinerary may change because of weather, sea conditions, visibility, currents, charter operations, or other circumstances outside American Pro Diving Center's control.
Safety always comes first.
