Palm Beach Turtle Nesting Weekend

June 11–13, 2027

Join American Pro Diving Center for a weekend of warm water, Gulf Stream drift diving, beautiful South Florida reefs, and the chance to encounter some of Palm Beach County’s most famous underwater residents during sea turtle nesting season!

Palm Beach offers some of the best drift diving in Florida, and June puts us right in the middle of an exciting time of year for sea turtles. Loggerhead, green, and hawksbill turtles are regularly encountered on the area's reefs, and we'll spend the weekend exploring these sites with Kyalami Charters.

Our group will stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Palm Beach Gardens, giving us a comfortable home base for a weekend built around diving, good food, and time with fellow American Pro divers.

THE WEEKEND

This is designed as a convenient Friday-through-Sunday Florida dive getaway.

Friday, June 11 — Arrival & Check-In

Travel to Palm Beach Gardens, check into the hotel, get settled, and meet up with the group.

Depending on the tides and final trip schedule, we may also have an opportunity to incorporate a dive at Blue Heron Bridge into the weekend itinerary.

Saturday, June 12 — Palm Beach Drift Diving

Start the morning with breakfast at the hotel before heading out for a two-tank charter with Kyalami Charters on the offshore reefs of Palm Beach.

Let the Gulf Stream do the work as we drift along reefs filled with tropical fish, corals, sponges, and the marine life that makes this area one of Florida's premier diving destinations.

During turtle nesting season, keep your eyes open—this is exactly the kind of weekend where you may find yourself sharing the reef with multiple sea turtles.

After diving, the afternoon and evening are ours to relax, explore Palm Beach, grab dinner, and enjoy the weekend.

Sunday, June 13 — More Diving & Departure

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we return to the water for another two-tank charter with Kyalami Charters.

After diving, we'll wrap up our Palm Beach adventure and head home.

The exact schedule may be adjusted around charter times, tides, weather, and diving conditions.

THE DIVING

Palm Beach is famous for Gulf Stream drift diving.

Instead of swimming against a current or navigating back to a fixed exit point, divers descend together and allow the current to carry the group along the reef. The dive boat follows the group's surface marker and picks us up after the dive.

It's an exciting and relaxing style of diving once you're comfortable with it—and it allows us to cover considerably more reef during a dive.

Our planned weekend includes:

  • Two-tank charter diving on Saturday
  • Two-tank charter diving on Sunday
  • Four scheduled offshore dives
  • Tanks and weights
  • Professional local dive crew aboard Kyalami
  • American Pro Diving Center group coordination
  • Possible Blue Heron Bridge dive depending on tides and scheduling

Specific dive sites cannot be guaranteed and will be selected based on weather, currents, sea conditions, diver experience, and the recommendations of the captain and crew.

TURTLE NESTING SEASON

We're deliberately scheduling this trip during Palm Beach County's sea turtle nesting season.

South Florida's reefs provide habitat for several species of sea turtles, and Palm Beach is particularly well known among divers for turtle encounters.

While wildlife encounters can never be guaranteed, this trip gives us the opportunity to experience Palm Beach at one of the most exciting times of the year for divers who love sea turtles.

Bring the camera!

ACCOMMODATIONS

Our group will stay for two nights at the Hampton Inn & Suites Palm Beach Gardens.

The hotel gives us a comfortable home base for the weekend and allows our group to stay together while enjoying convenient access to the Palm Beach diving area.

Breakfast is included each morning with your hotel stay, so you can grab breakfast before we head out for the day's diving.

The standard trip package will be based on the room arrangements established for our group. Final room configurations, occupancy options, check-in information, and other hotel details will be provided before the trip.

PLANNED PACKAGE INCLUDES

  • Two nights at Hampton Inn & Suites Palm Beach Gardens
  • Daily breakfast at the hotel
  • Four scheduled offshore dives with Kyalami Charters
  • Two-tank charter on Saturday
  • Two-tank charter on Sunday
  • Tanks and weights for scheduled charter dives
  • Local captain and dive crew
  • American Pro Diving Center group coordination
  • Possible Blue Heron Bridge dive when tides and scheduling allow

NOT INCLUDED

Unless specifically stated in the final package, participants should plan for:

  • Transportation to and from Palm Beach Gardens
  • Transportation between the hotel and dive charter
  • Lunches and dinners
  • Personal scuba equipment
  • Scuba equipment rental
  • Nitrox upgrades
  • Parking or other incidental fees
  • Gratuities
  • Personal purchases
  • Travel or dive accident insurance
  • Any activities or expenses not specifically listed as included

CERTIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

Participants must be certified scuba divers.

Because Palm Beach diving can involve current and open-ocean conditions, divers should be comfortable with:

  • Boat diving
  • Drift diving or diving in current
  • Descents and ascents in open water
  • Maintaining good buoyancy control
  • Following a dive guide and group
  • Surface signaling procedures

If you've never experienced drift diving before, don't let that automatically keep you from joining us. Talk with the American Pro team beforehand and we can help determine whether the trip is appropriate for your experience level and what training or preparation may help.

Divers who haven't been in the water recently are strongly encouraged to complete a refresher or PADI ReActivate before the trip.

REQUIRED & RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

Divers should bring their normal personal scuba equipment along with any equipment required by the charter.

We strongly recommend every diver have:

  • BCD
  • Regulator
  • Dive computer
  • Mask and fins
  • Appropriate exposure protection
  • Surface marker buoy (SMB)
  • Reel or spool
  • Audible surface signaling device
  • Certification card

Any additional charter-specific equipment requirements will be communicated before the trip.

BLUE HERON BRIDGE

If the tides and weekend schedule cooperate, we may add a dive at the famous Blue Heron Bridge.

Blue Heron Bridge offers a completely different experience from our offshore drift dives and is known for interesting small marine life, photography opportunities, and surprisingly diverse underwater encounters.

Because diving the bridge revolves heavily around the tide, this portion of the itinerary is optional and cannot be guaranteed until the final conditions are confirmed.

RESERVATIONS & PAYMENT

Space on this trip will be limited by both our hotel room block and available charter capacity.

A deposit will be required to secure your reservation.

The deposit amount, payment schedule, final-payment deadline, cancellation policy, and participant-substitution terms will be provided once the final group arrangements have been confirmed.

A reservation is not considered secured until the required deposit has been received.

WEATHER & DIVE CONDITIONS

All scuba diving is weather and conditions dependent.

The captain and charter operator have final authority regarding whether the boat operates and which dive sites are appropriate for the day's conditions.

Sea turtle encounters are wildlife encounters and cannot be guaranteed.

Dive sites, schedules, number of dives, and other portions of the itinerary may be changed when necessary because of weather, sea conditions, currents, tides, charter operations, or other circumstances outside American Pro Diving Center's control.

Safety always comes first.
